Starting point:
Tourism needs motivated rising generations and finds less young people, that want to become an apprentice in gastronomy.
The 25 "Steirischen Fachschulen für ländliche Hauswirtschaft" (schools for further education in agriculture vocations) also prepare intensive for jobs in gastronomy.
a) Target groups:
-1500 pupils
-parents
-teachers
c) Main objectives:
The named inter-active image-project offers young people the chance to discover and get to know the sun-side and chances for development in these vocations.
By the way of making interviews, meetings with employees and apprentices in their regional environment, „application- rallye’s“ and practical days prejudices against gastronomy shall be lowered and young people shall make their choice for these vocations because of the experiences they made.
Main goal is to develop a network between agricultural schools and regional enterprises. In that way enterprises can recruit their further apprentices through the project itself.

... young people get to know in an inter-active way vocations of gastronomy and get to know on their own the positive aspects and chances in these vocations.
... parents and teachers be informed (pupils present their self-made stocks...)
... enterprises be motivated through the contact with young people to offer a good working-place for their apprentices and in that way...
... to improve the image of the branch long-term and
... to increase the number of motivated and success-orientated apprentices in the Styrian apprentices-market especially in tourism.
d) Activities:
-Reality events: Impulse-Workshops at schools, Searching & Interviews in enterprises (presentation of results), application- and communication-trainings
-Application-Rallye: Applications in enterprises of tourism with feedback from the enterprises
-practical days in enterprises
-Presentation of the results for their parents
e) Outcomes:
Interim results: In the pilot-phase (2002) 1000 pupils went to enterprises, in order to get impressions and information in about 200 enterprises. About 100 teachers have worked in the transfer of the project and prepared their pupils for the meetings with economy.
