Objectives: The aim of this research is to examine how adolescents and young adults
self-direct their life by personal goals and strategies. Research focuses on young adults
transition points, such transition from school to education and work, transition to
university, and transition to parenthood.
The aim is to examine how personal goals and strategies predict successful
transitions from school to work and problems in these transitions.
Subjects: Four studies are included: 1) 300 university students who have been followed
annually since 1991, 2) 250 vocational school students, 3 data collections during
transition from school to work, 3) 300 vocational school students, 5 data collections
during transition from vocation school to work, 4) 300 students in university entrance
examination, 3 data collection, one before examination, 2 after examination.
Methods: Main methods Little PPA personal projects, SAQ strategies, social resources.
Register data concerning grades etc.
