The project seeks to facilitate pupils' transition from school to work by promoting new methods of career counselling and the development of a portfolio of competencies.
Six teachers will be trained and act as multipliers in the direct target group of teachers, and pupils in their final three years of secondary schools will eventually benefit.
The project will go through five phases during its 12 month period:
1. Kick-off phase
2. Training of the multipliers in counselling, communication strategies and team work
3. Evaluation
4. Final conference
5. Dissemination of results
Results
All beneficiaries who participated directly to the process, during the transactional meetings, and the local transfer activity as well achieved the following:
- Guidance skills based upon the proposed model, thanks to the competences and means gained during the training activity.
- Improvement of the teacher-student relationship and much more involvement of the families.
- More awareness of the guidance value of the didactics.
- Promoting the guidance unit on a local basis, after the transfer of competences to colleague teachers.
Moreover, a self-evaluation questionnaire was given to every participant at the end of the three modules. T
The self-evaluation questionnaire compiled by the principals also confirms the project's value and the validation of its results. All this can be appraised by looking at Chart 2, which locates the areas where this satisfaction level was detected.
In particular very important was the prominence given by the interviewed persons to these elements:
- The competences acquired by the teachers who took part in the project.
- The impact on the training prospectus and on the educational services offered by the involved schools.
- Global opinion about the project's usefulness.
Outputs include a skilled team of multipliers who can transfer their knowledge to other teachers in their respective school and local environment, a book on the training in three languages, and an internet web site with training materials and a discussion forum.
