The project "BOB - Bridge Over Borders" aims a) to strengthen each student's own identity, b) to make the student feel safe in his own identity, c) to give and acquire knowledge leading up to understanding of and respect for other people, countries and cultures, d) to make students aware of the value of each other's culture and f) to prepare the students to the future international labour market they will work in.
The projects thus intends to focus on inetrcultural education both through pupils and through the parents.
Concretely speaking the project intends to set up discussion strategies enabling to investigate attitudes in relation with education, teaching and learning which exist with both parents and pupils. The discussions with parents which will be set up aim at making them aware of the importance of a positive attitude and motivation of their children towards education. Furthermore the project will work on the European dimension through different subjects and/or disciplines enabling students to better understand different views on cultural dimensions such as the universalistic/particularistic dimension and/or the hierarchical/egalitarian and the individualistic/collectivistic ones. The objective being to make students aware of the fact that people from different cultures have different ways of acting, behaving and thinking but that they are nevertheless equal.
The final product will be the production of a document containing evaluations made by the teachers and students and also video documentation . Furthermore there will be work on the internet and e-mail documentation available.
Finally the project should result in a better working climate at school between youngsters and teachers and in having more confident and better motivated students; it should also result in having violence/ hostility reduced.
