Short description:

This is a project started by 'The Hatfield Ahead' scheme. The scheme involves all the schools in Hertfordshire,public bodies,enterprises.parents and the University of Hertfordshire.The scheme seeks to improve the achievement of pupils and to improve their chances of gaining Further and Higher education opportunities leading to useful employment. The University of Hertfordshire.
Undergraduates visit the schools to take on the role of mentor, for which they receive training and seek to motivate,increase self esteem,and gain an interest and awareness of Higher Education Opportunities. The undergraduates also benefit. there is an increasing problem in GB of student in Higher Education dropping out of there courses. This mentoring schemes seems to arrest this decline in the Mentors and they give a greater committment to their studies. .
