A Brief Outline

The Steirische Volkswirtschaftliche Gesellschaft is an educational institute of the Styrian trade and industry. Its emphasis is on "education and business". It does its work at the transition from educational institutions and the business world and sees itself as a part of a network with a multitude of partners, cooperating with adult education institutions, schools, the social partners, companies and institutes of learning.

Seminars, lectures and courses are held, projects are begun and carried out and comprehensive developmental processes are organized and managed–all to attain the educational aims.

Examples of Projects Dealing with This Topic:

Ä Chances for youth (Chancen für die JUGEND): A project carried out for the Styrian Provincial Government throughout Styria for improving the progression of youths at the transition from school, training, and jobs.
Ä Guidance in finding a Job: (BerufsFindungsBegleiter/in): A project carried out for the Department of the Economy within the framework of the STAP, the Styrian Action Plan for employment for preventative orientation and the vocational preparation of young people at the transition from full-time schooling to dual vocational paths.
Ä www.eb-stmk.at: The internet platform of the information and communication network of the Styrian Adult Education System was developed and carried out for the Workshop on Adult Education in Styria (Arbeitsgemeinschaft Erwachsenbildung Steiermark). The network currently comprises 33 Styrian institutions with more than 9000 events.
Ä JUNIOR--Young Enterprise—Pupils are Founding Businesses (Schüler gründen Unternehmen): This is a project to develop entrepreneurial competence in youths at an early age by allowing and supporting entrepreneurial dealings.
Ä European Projects and meetings like EURO-BAC (”Berufsreifeprüfung”), CHOICE (vocational orientation), Future of apprenticeship, Cooperation with CEDEFOP and others.

Above and beyond all of these projects, the Steirische Volkswirtschaftliche Gesellschaft and its employees are active in developing, organizing and structuring measures for educational policies on various committees at the state and federal levels, such as for example:

Ä Committee on Educational Policies – Federation of Austrian Industrie
Ä Member of the Styrian Board of Education
Ä Lecturers at liberal arts universities and universities for applied sciences
Ä Provincial project group on JASG/NAP

In neighbouring countries and throughout the EU the Steirische Volkswirtschaftliche Gesellschaft is committed to carrying out educational projects in partnerships not limited by borders, for example, by:

Ä offering Business Information Seminars in Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
Ä cooperating with international organizations, such as the IAEVG –International Association for Vocational Guidance; the International Association of Universities for Information Sciences (Internationaler Hochschulverband für Informationswissenschaften); various European projects.
Ä Takes part in OECD-Project ”Transition from Initial Education to working life” by order by Austria Ministry for Education.



About the Organisation

It was founded in 1955 with the legal standing of a benevolent organisation.

It is a legally authorized institute of adult education.
