Short description:
a) The GWO program is designed for users who need assistance in their occupational choices and in seeking employment. Target users are pupils & students, clients of Labour Offices, individuals.

b) A principally innovative procedure is being used for creating the different national GWO applications. For this purpose the international source database in English is being developed, with an extended database of occupations. For the different partner countries, only the occupations relevant for the country will be made active in the respective national GWO applications, according to their choice.
The international source database of occupations and the international GWO application, both in English, is located on the project central web server of 5D software (CZ). The other national partners actively contribute to this, test the international GWO application in their countries and start developing their national GWO applications. This is done by translating data selected from the international source database and sending them together with the added nationally specific data to the central web server. There the national GWO applications will be built and their functions tested in cooperation between the Czech and respective national partners. Finally, the completed national GWO applications will be transferred to the different national web servers. Finally, the database will be operated on the web, with the possibility to put the data on a CD ROM and use the program without the connection to internet.

c) The aim of this Leonardo da Vinci three-year pilot project is to develop a new advanced version of the multimedia computer database Guide to the World of Occupations, provide its international source database in English, produce its Czech, Slovak, Bulgarian, Cypriot, Greek, Italian, Lithuanian, Romanian and Spanish national internet applications, and make them available to national labour market services in the partner countries.

e) A database that offers support in all phases of career guidance: from self awareness, awareness of labour market opportunities, career decision making, to implementing decisions and getting appropriate employment. It will be available through national labour offices, career guidance centres, schools, internet..
